Yesterday a home inspector text me a picture of a sealed sump pit as part of a Radon mitigation system. He said there were no fire collars on the vent pipe going through the garage, and that he wanted to show me what he has seen before but never took a picture of, the sump pit bag.
This certified company, it seems, could not figure out how to seal the sump pit with two pipes coming out of the pit, so he used some clear plastic and duct taped the rest. Unbelievable.
I have heard of someone using a sump pit bag with a pedestal sump pump so the seller of a home could save money. What a nice guy. What he does not realize is that pedestal sump pumps are air cooled. As soon as you cut off the air supply they can overheat and fail. This, with the buyer, who may not know any better, thinking they are safe.
This is another reason I will not match another company’s price. They just don’t do what we do or seem to care about how their work affects anyone in the future.
